If I'm being honest, this walk, this life, this road is not for the faint of heart. Once you've surrendered your life to God in exchange for eternity with Him, it's like you have enlisted in a war because the enemy will stop at nothing to see you fall like him.
Constant Warfare
Ephesians 6 vs 12 tells us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places so all the fights and attacks that we have been facing and are yet to face are not physical. Your spouse doesn't just randomly wants to pick a fight with you on a Tuesday afternoon, your kids didn't just get up and decide that they want to be rebellious, your boss didn't just decide to set out to destroy your career- everything is spiritual and once you have said yes to Jesus the enemy chooses to war. Spiritual problems need spiritual solutions, so what do you do? You fast, you pray, you war in the spirit strategically because whatever happens in the spirit will manifest in the physical. You're not just lazy all of a sudden that's the spirit of procrastination latching on to you to delay your destiny, you're not just randomly angry- anger is a spirit and it can be hereditary, so when you see these things get ready to war!
Covenants and Curses
Our bloodline carries curses and covenants which are hereditary and can trickle down to us and will if we are not careful. All the enemy needs is a door to initiate said curse or covenant even if you are a child of God. You may be thinking that well because we are children of God curses have been broken and reversed at our names which is true but if you go and open that door knowingly or otherwise then you have given the enemy legal access to your life. Sometimes we give the enemy access by holding onto past relationships or friendships that no longer serve us or by repeatedly doing a thing or going to a place that does not please the Lord. The Bible tells us that we can't serve two masters, so choose this day whom you will serve. Once we have renounced a curse or covenant we should do all things to refrain from going back to that cycle or that sin and live a life that is pure and pleasing to the Lord.
Taking Up The Cross Daily
As His chosen ones Jesus urges us to take up the cross and follow Him daily. This is easier said than done because of how frail we are. We walk around with open wounds and offences so much so that there is no room for the burden of the cross. We live in selfish manner and believe that we are doing well, but in reality He wants us to do the hard things like forgiving the neighbour, loving the unlovable and tolerating the intolerable which is pleasing unto Him. We ever so often forget that He died for the world it's just that some of us have answered the call before others. We should strive to intentionally love our enemies and pray for those who despitefully use us, we must as Jesus did humble ourselves and be obedient even when God's will seems to be crushing us. And may we never forget that we are more than conquers in this life as our aim should be to hear well done, thou good and faithful servant.
