Changed Story...Changed Name.

Have you ever noticed in the Bible that when God has changed or is about to change someone's story He changes their name too? Peter, Jacob, Saul, even Sarai and Abram. Generally our names signify who we are and often time shadows the course of our lives. What do I mean by this? It's simple really, when Naomi lost her husband and sons she changed her name to 'Marah' which means bitter when translated. She gave herself a name that reflects her current situation. You want to know a fun fact? Did you know that every time you or someone calls your name they are declaring what your name means to you or over you? Think about it Peter's name was changed to Cephas, which when interpretated means a stone and Jesus declared upon this rock I will build my church and it is that same Peter (yes, he who denied Christ) went on to being one of the greatest apostles working miracles and carrying out the mandate which he was given. The same goes for Jacob, his name literally meant trickster and all throughout his life that is the narrative that followed him until he wrestled with the angel. Not only did his name change but his circumstances changed as well.

I say all of this to say that God won't only change your story, He will change your name as well. Everyone who knew you as the liar, the thief, the adulterer or the drunkard will be referring to you as blessed, favoured, loved, or even as new, why? Because God is the author and the finisher of your faith so if He decides to rewrite your story and give you a new name, who can take the pen from Him and say otherwise? I pray that in this season that your story will begin to change and that your name will reflect the new path that God himself has set before you. All in all, regardless of the new name you have been given and the new story that God is writing, let it all be governed by this one word... CHANGED!
