Holiness (Part 1)

The other night I was speaking with the Lord before I poured over a few passages of scripture. He said to me "holiness" and immediately I asked him what is holiness? What is true holiness? He then sent me to Isaiah 6. I've read this scripture before but didn't really notice what really happened in Isaiah's vision. In the vision Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up while the Seraphims proclaimed "holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory". In that moment Isaiah realized that his lips were unclean and that he had been among people with unclean lips too. Soon after one of the Seraphims took a live coal from off the altar and touched his lips and his iniquity was taken away and his sin purged. That's just a summary of a few verses. Now what am I saying? The fact that Isaiah's sins became more evident in the presence of our Holy God shows that unrighteousness cannot dwell in God's presence. Isaiah recognized a part of him that was unclean and it was purged; what if he had unclean hands and an unclean heart? I believe those too would have been made more evident in God's presence. In essence it's not that we do not know that we aren't truly holy it's just that when we come before God's holy presence our sins and iniquity are more exposed and then we become even more conscious to consecrate ourselves. Practice the presence of God daily so that you too can consciously acknowledge what is not right before the presence of God; by doing this we'll be constantly reminded that God is indeed holy!
Thankfully, we have the HOLY Spirit (a part of the God head) living on the inside of us to help us live holy and pleasing lives before the Father. 1 Peter 1:14-16 reminds us that we should be holy as he which have called us; to be holy in all manner of conversation. Therefore, holiness is a virtue and a continuous practice of the lives we were called to live.
