A part of holiness or remaining holy is having an altar. Having an altar is necessary and going to the altar is important as an altar is the place where we meet with God. When we come to God at the altar we can be cleansed of unrighteousness and receive restoration. An altar is not only present in the Sanctuary; your altar can be raised up anywhere- in your bathroom, in your kitchen or even at your desk at work. In Genesis 35 Jacob built an altar to the Lord and called the place Elbethel because God appeared unto him there. We see throughout scripture where many persons raised up altars unto the Lord and communed with him, they even offered burnt offerings and sacrifices on their altars to the Lord. An altar should not be taken lightly for it is a sacred place where the Lord chooses to meet with his people. Note that the end of almost every church service that you have been to the pastor always has an altar call either for prayer or repentance not to embarrass anyone or highlight their shortcomings but to direct them to the place where God's presence dwells. Having an altar births new encounters and experiences with the Lord; at the altar is where we can receive revelations from the Lord and be restored unto holiness.
