Prioritize the Priority

I was on my bed thinking, and then it dawned on me that once we draw for our Bibles before the day's end that means that we would have read it, however, it is not about just reading it overall it's about reading it first! Matthew 6:33 says, But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness! It is imperative that we get that first fruit, that first food, that first bite as our staple as we go about our daily lives. To get that first drop of the Father's word in our spirits so that we have spiritual fuel against the spiritual war that wages in this world (see Ephesians 6:12).

The word is the sword in the armour of God and the armour cannot be complete without it. Can you really go to war without your weapon? Can you go to war without the right weapon? My answer to that is no! The thing is I had a habit of doing it and I think that we are led to believe that once we read the Bible at some point during the day then we're good, but we should not take comfort in such. The word holds great promises and power and it is how we start off our day hearing the voice of God intentionally. And if we do not make hearing his voice a priority or if we do not consciously choose to renew our spirits and wash ourselves with the word at the break of day then trust me we can expect a very unsettling day a head. The word sets the tone for how we should pray in that moment and what promises to take along with us for the day, and if not for us then maybe for someone else throughout our busy lives. I say all of this to say that if we say God and his word are our priorities may we strive to prioritize that which matters most.
