We Are Satisfied

I thought to myself this morning, "why are we always just okay with crumbs or a small portion of the word?" and the Holy Spirit said to me that we are satisfied.

And then it hit me, the word is spiritual food, we eat what we desire, and then somewhere between verses of scripture we become full.

In the physical we can down two and three course meals, pizzas, and combos in one sitting, but when it comes on to the Spiritual we are satisfied for the entire day with just breakfast(morning devotion/word) or an appetizer(1 verse of scripture) and then believe that that can carry us throughout the remaining 24 hours of the day.

Just like real food, we have to treat the word as such and we ought to always have an appetite for it. We should strive to feast on the word for breakfast, lunch and dinner and snack in between just as we do food.

From time to time in the physical our diets change but in the spiritual our diets/appetites ought to always remain the same. We are to always remain hungry for the things of God! I remember many years ago a pastor said that if you are not hungry for the word you are full of something else. Could it be social media? Our careers? Our degrees? Our kids or our spouses? Whatever it is I urge us to get rid of it and get back on feasting on real daily bread. When Jesus was tempted with bread, his reply was that men should not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceed out of the mouth of God, therefore, the word cannot be an option, it is fuel for our spiritual frame, the very foundation that we need for prayer or ministering. May we not be satisfied but sustained and saturated by the word.
